Mid-Amercia Lightning Sprints Presented by Jayhawk Millwright, Double-X speedway California MO

With threatening skies all around Double-X speedway the fans knew this was going to be a great night of racing if Mother Nature held off.  Mid-America Lightning Sprints presented by Jayhawk Millwright was the support show for ASCS 360 winged sprints car Jesse Hockett night at Double-X speedway and it looked to be a sold out show! Phil Heavelow once again shows why he is the man when it comes to lightning sprints racing. He comes out of this weekend’s event undefeated.  Not only sweeping both Mid-America Lightning Sprint Shows this year but also the night before at Winston MO I-35 speedway with Midwest Lightning sprints.   Phil was quoted in saying” what an awesome night of racing. The place was packed and I am very proud to have brought home this victory at Double-X speedway!”   Runner up was Rod End Supply hot shoe Gabe Maycock, from Middletown MO who won his heat race and was a threat the entire night to win.  Third place went to #4 Beau Heavelow, who suffered front end steering damage early in the night causing his car to be hard to hold on to and actually breaking the steering component as he took the checker flag. Forth place went to Mark Billings; who had to start in last place due to a mechanical issue and not taking the green for the heat.  Mark received the Kent Transportation hard charger award for advancing the most position’s in the feature.  Fifth place went to Zach Morehead with his cornershop.com racing car. Zach was fighting an overheating issue after switching motor packages this season, but overall had a great car for the night. Sixth place was nailed down by MK Billings in the Liquid and powder coat finishes of KC number 51. Seventh place hot on his bumper was Kenny Billings in his Liquid and Powder Coat finishes of Kansas City number 85.  Eighth Place was with Mr. Consistency Bird Schofield whose methodical form of racing always places him well up in the finishing order. One award that no one really wants is the Speedway Motors Hard Luck award. This award went to Rick Murcko in the 48m who took a nasty flip coming in to turn three. The car suffered heavy damage which appears to be bolt on components. Rick says he will get his car repaired and be at the next Mid-America Lightning Sprints presented by Jayhawk Millwright race at Nevada Speedway on June 29th.

A special thank you to the Billings Family; owner and operators of Liquid and Powder Coat Finishes of Kansas city for hosting a Pre race BBQ for all the drivers and crew.   The BBQ was from Famous Daves it was enjoyed and appreciated by all.
